Web search did not run

Symptoms

A search-enabled request returns no sources, fails to invoke web search, or behaves like a normal model request.

Check

  1. Confirm the chosen Stravia model route supports the intended web-search workflow.
  2. Check whether a request explicitly invoked the Web Search capability and whether the relevant provider/service settings are present.
  3. For browser-backed source retrieval, confirm Chrome is installed and available in the environment performing the retrieval.
  4. Review request history for the tool invocation or its error; a Gemini-compatible protocol is not a Gemini CLI adapter.

Resolution

Enable and configure the supported Web Search route, ensure its runtime requirements are met, and test with a bounded query. A service that speaks a Gemini protocol does not by itself configure a Gemini CLI client integration.

Record the route, service, runtime, and sanitized tool error. Do not include search results containing private data. See Web search and Diagnostics .
